GA Engineering & Consulting staff developed a design for neutralization system to treat wastewater generated at medium-size bottling plants. The treatment system includes lift station with submersible solids-handling pumps to transfer process wastewater from the plant to below-grade, two-compartment pH adjustment tanks. The tanks are mixed with submersible pumps and wastewater is recirculated where pH is monitored and either sodium hydroxide or sulfuric acid is metered in-line to achieve the desired set-point pH prior to sanitary sewer discharge.
